The ultimate Creator, Sovereign and in control. He created us, not because he needed us, but because he wanted us. He always was. He had no beginning and will have no end. Time does not constrain Him; He in fact created time, though our minds are too finite and limited to even begin to understand this concept. Though He created us to love and worship Him, He also gave us a choice to do so. Because He loved us so, He wanted us to choose to love Him in return, not be forced to love Him. He holds the Universe in His hands which means He is unbelievably big; and yet, he sees right through trillions of stars and trillions of galaxies straight down into our very hearts. He knit together each one of us in our mother’s womb and created every cell and molecule in our DNA, unique for every person from the moment of conception. He breathes stars and yet whispers to our hearts. His forgiveness is unrestrained and mercy and grace limitless. He is larger than our minds can conceive, and laughs when we try. He is the knower of all and nothing is hidden from him. He knows every decision made and will be made by every person who ever lived and will live. He knows the depths of every heart. He is all-powerful and all loving. He is the ultimate Creator, Sovereign and in control. He created you because he wanted you and loves you. He’s just waiting for you to love Him too. He…is the Holy of Holies, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords…He is God Almighty.
The Longing to be Captivating…
Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2010 by greeneyedglimpsesEvery little girl waits for two days in her life, the day she meets the man she marries, and the day she says, “I do.” There is a deep longing that resides in the very core of every little girl, teenager, and young woman, to women middle aged and old. I am talking about the longing to be found captivating and desired.
When I was little, it came out in playing dress up or playing wedding. I always made my little sister play the groom, because of course you have to play the bride since you are the oldest. I cannot explain how we, at that age, have an unspoken desire to one day be loved by someone and wanted. Perhaps this idea formulates from seeing our parents. Maybe you had amazing loving parents whose love for each other was evident, or maybe you come from a broken home. Either way, the longing to find somebody who will never leave you, desire you, and find you captivating resides deep in your soul and in the soul of every woman.
Some of us have never stopped to think of what that deep yearning that dwells in us really is. However, when you mention it, it is like a light bulb goes off in our heads, or as if we just figured out the missing piece to the puzzle. Did you ever stop to think that maybe God placed that desire in us as women?
God placed in us, as women, his essence of beauty and a longing to be found captivating. Like us, God longs to be loved and sought after. He longs to be desired as you long to be desired. He is just waiting for you to pursue him. He wants you to be captivated by him as you yearn to be seen as captivating. He wants to fill the hole in your heart and tell you that you are longed for. Is it too good to be true? No! The Almighty God longs for you and loves you! The Creator of the universe desires you and aches for you to desire him in return. So, purse your Creator and be captivated by his glory for he finds you captivating…
“The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.” Psalms 45:11
Chasing the Sun…
Posted in Uncategorized on March 21, 2010 by greeneyedglimpsesTwo words: Spring Break. It has been my first college spring break, though I am not sure why they have it in March. Several girls and I went to one of their houses in Savannah, Georgia hoping it would be warm, so we could get some sun. Unfortunately, it was cold, cloudy, and in the high 50’s. We were so upset. I mean, it would happen that this one week a cold front would come through during our spring break.
It also happened to be mine and one of the other girls birthday; so for her birthday we went down to St. Augustine, Florida for one night, thinking that it would be warmer there and just maybe we could get some sun. It wound up that the high was 63 and it was partly cloudy and windy. (We did get to go to Anastasia Island to visit the Ripley’s Believe it or not Museum which was…interesting, but very fun!) Since we had come all the way, and being crazy college girls who go to school in the Georgia Mountains where it rains all the time, we decided to lie outside anyway. Though it was not super warm, at least we each got a tiny bit of sun as we were enduring the wind. Thursday we went to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, but the high was only 58; however, we did get some shopping accomplished
Finally, on Friday and Saturday the sun decided to come out and warm things up. We headed out to Tybee Island, Georgia. It was 75 with no clouds in sight! It was absolutely beautiful and so worth all that driving! After chasing the sun across 3 states and 3 Islands we finally found it on the last 2 days in Savannah on Tybee where we had started out in the first place. Finally, we were able to soak up some sun!
The girls and I were joking about “chasing the sun” and it made me think about how we need to be chasing the true Son. Even when the wind blows and it is cloudy, we think we will never see Him; but He is always there. Sometimes through the winds and troubles in our lives, He gives us just a glimpse of the end result to give us a renewed passion and hope when we are hopeless, to help us to endure the chase. And oh is it worth it, when we can say we fully chased the Son with everything we had and His Father says to us, “Well done good and faithful servant.” That day will be the first day of forever when we can fully soak up the Son and His glory!
We are all looking…
Posted in Uncategorized on March 5, 2010 by greeneyedglimpsesWe are all looking; searching for that one person with whom we will spend the rest of our lives. Whether you realize it or not, subconsciously, you are constantly seeking, hoping to find “the one.” If you are 18 and older, this is where you beginning to think more seriously about finding someone. After all, isn’t this the age where you parents were dating, engaged, or even married? Nobody wants to live a life alone, so we look, search, for that one person who will complete ourselves. We have been told by our culture, friends, media, even sometimes church and parents that you have to find that future spouse, then you will feel complete; and so the search begins. However, this my friends, is a lie. Yes, finding that one person to love for the rest of your life is an amazing and wonderful thing. After all God said himself, it is not good for man to be alone. However, sometimes we idolize the idea of having a special someone to the extent of it becoming an obsession; to where we think we have to have a boyfriend or girlfriend to make ourselves feel complete. But oh Beloved! We already have access to “the One,” and He won’t just make you FEEL complete, He will MAKE you complete. We spend so much energy looking for someone, anyone, to love. We forget that God is watching us, aching to be a part of our lives saying, “Pursue me my child, for I have been pursuing you.” He is the ultimate Lover, so pursue Him without restraints. If you truly pursue Him, then He will give you your hearts desires. Be patient, God has the perfect person for you; he just wants you to love Him first. If we are patient and wait for God to bring us our future spouse, then we are saved from much heartache, pain, and wasted time. Wouldn’t it be so much easier if we just do it God’s way and wait? He will bring you that person in His timing. But right now, pursue your Lover. He’s waiting for you…
Why do we try to change the way our Father created us?
Posted in Uncategorized on February 17, 2010 by greeneyedglimpsesWe are constantly attempting to change our image. From tanning, whitening our teeth, to changing the color of our hair, we attempt to hide what we consider our imperfections. Fixing ourselves to the extent of trying to reach perfection. Now I’m not saying we shouldn’t take care of ourselves, after all, the Lord lives inside of us and we are His temple. I am saying that we just forget sometimes that the Creator of the universe intimately pieced us together and knew the number of hairs on our head before the world was created. Why do we strive so much to change the way our Creator made us? Is it because the world is telling us that to be beautiful we must achieve perfection? He created us and we are beautiful in His eyes! He knows our inmost being and intricately wove us together in our mothers womb! Oh Beloved, can’t you see? We are fearfully and wonderfully made!
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” -Psalm 139:12-14
Mirror, Mirror on the wall, Have I got it?
‘Cause Mirror you’ve always told me who I am
I’m finding it’s not easy to be perfect
So sorry you won’t define me
Sorry you don’t own me
Who are you to tell me
That I’m less than what I should be?
Who are you? Who are you?
I don’t need to listen
To the list of things I should do
I won’t try, I won’t try
Mirror I am seeing a new reflection
I’m looking into the eyes of He who made me
And to Him I have beauty beyond compare
I know He defines me
You don’t define me, you don’t define me
